Barracudas Swim Team
Code of Conduct

For swimmers & parents - Maintaining a positive atmosphere of sportsmanship, courtesy and respect

Our Mission

We are committed to creating a fun, supportive and safe family environment where swimmers grow as athletes and individuals. While we work hard and aim to improve, our team culture values attitude, encouragement, and personal growth over intense competition. To ensure a positive experience for everyone, all swimmers and parents must agree to the following Code of Conduct.

For Swimmers

As a swimmer on the Berkeley Barracudas Swim Team, I agree to:

  • Show Good Sportsmanship

    • Congratulate and encourage teammates and competitors alike.

    • Be gracious in victory and respectful in defeat.

    • Remain in the pool & shake hands with competitors at the end of each race.

  • Respect Others

    • Listen to and follow directions from coaches and team staff.

    • Treat teammates, coaches, opponents, and all pool staff with kindness and courtesy.

    • Use appropriate language and behavior at all times.

  • Practice Courtesy and Responsibility

    • Arrive on time, ready to swim with a positive attitude and all necessary items.

    • Attend practice regularly and be prepared to swim all events assigned by coaches in our meets.

    • Take good care of team equipment and respect the pool and facilities at the BSC and other pools that we visit.

  • Support a Positive Team Culture

    • Include, support and encourage all teammates, regardless of age or ability.

    • Avoid gossip, teasing, and/or behavior that isolates others.

    • Represent the team with pride both in and out of the pool.

For Parents & Guardians
